Yoga Is AWESOME!

class_image.gifYoga practioners everywhere are finding amazing improvments in their health and happiness through their weekly yoga classes. More and more research is being done on yoga lovers and are showing that regular yoga classes can help such things as

HEART HEALTH, WEIGHT CONTROL, INSOMNIA, ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION, STAMINA, DIGESTION, FLEXIBILITY and CIRCULATION.

To name a few.

Yoga is also much more than just a physical exercise practice. Yoga, meaning ‘yoke’ in Sanskrit, is a family of ancient spiritual practices originating in India. It is one of the six schools of Hindu Philosophy and has been called a ‘science’ or ‘technology’ of liberation. This is because, unlike purely theoretical philosophies, yoga seeks to provide the student with a practical path (or indeed many possible paths) towards the common goal of liberation.

Feel like getting a little liberated? Or at least a bit more flexible? Try some yoga! It’s good!

Government to Cut Greenhouse Gas by 2010

breathe.jpgCanada’s Environment Minister Rona Ambrose introduced a proposed clean air act during a news conference on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on Thursday. The Tory Government has targeted industry sectors who will now have mandatory requirements that will be enforced to cut greenhouse emissions in half by 2050. These industries include gas and oil as well as the auto industry.

By 2011 further measures will be taken for more long term goals to cut smog emmisions, the act will take a baby steps approach toward a larger goal of reductions up to 65 per cent by 2050. Although it is a small step it is nice to see some action being taken. Ambrose said any polluter who goes over the regulated targets will be fined, with the money going to an environmental damage fund.

Clean, Green Apple

created-by-ilife.jpegGreenpeace has started a campaign to bring awareness to Mac Computers about the toxic waste that comes from their tossed computer parts. In China, for example, children wade through mountains of computer parts filled with toxic materials such as lead and mercury finding items their families can resell while plastic cables and chords burn nearby. Local water sources are also made undrinkable due to heavy metal content.

So Greenpeace wants the help of the people like you! Rather than tying themselves to the side of Macs headquarters, they have decided to give Mac the benefit of the doubt and use creative measures by the public to get their attention. On the Greenpeace website you can take part in letting Apple know about the effect they are having on the Environment and on hundreds of peoples lives. Check it out, it’s rather fun!
