A professor from the University of Washington has calculated what the creation of the universe would’ve sounded like. The big bang was really just a humming sound. You can listen to it and you can find out more information from those good folks over at MetaFilter.

Secret Rooms Gain Popularity
The New York Times is running a story about the growing popularity of installing a
secret room into houses. I’ve always wanted a secret hideaway room that has the bat computer and a map printed on the floor.
““Most people don’t even recognize that it’s there,†said her father, Eric Beghou, who owns a consulting company with his wife, Beth. “When the home inspector came by to examine the house, our builder shut the bookcase, hiding the room. The inspector went up and down the stairs a couple times — he knew that something was unusual — but he couldn’t figure out what was there.â€
Soon, however, inspectors and other guests may get wise to hidden rooms like the Beghous’. Although hard data is not available, architects report an increase over the last five years in the number of clients installing concealed rooms.”

David Suzuki: Steal my Research
David Suzuki is awesome and ti add to his awesomeness he has openly proclaimed that anyone can use his research to fight for positive environmental change!
“Allow me to clear something up right now. To all politicians looking for ways to reduce our footprint on nature – or, to use politician-speak, create an “environmental platformâ€: Knock yourselves out. Feel free to steal, pilfer, borrow, rent, filch or otherwise take any research my foundation does and put it to good use.
This may seem obvious to some, but the whole point of conducting and publishing this research is to get people to actually use it.”
