No passport? No problem!

To any of you who waited in line, for hours, hoping to get your passport in time for the air travel restrictions: maybe you wasted your time. Maybe you could have picked a place that did not require much more than your picture identification.

You could have gone to the following tourist hot spots, places so relaxed about life that it’s almost a sure bet that people in these countries never line up for hours, empty coffee cup in hand, wanting to go to the bathroom but afraid to lose your spot.

Maybe next time you will listen to the media reports. Maybe you got your passport in time, and will congratulate yourself for all the hard work you did lining up, and get some hard-earned relaxation done.

Bizzarre Looking Concept Car

The Peugeot Dauphin is a concept car that looks really odd and serves of testbed for future electric vehicles. It’s the craziest tricycle you’ll ever see (pictures located at the above link, sorry in a rush with no time to attach an image).

“It’s no slouch when it comes to performance, either. Pushing the techno-tryke up to 90 mph are electric motors embedded in each rear wheel, and once you get home, you charge the vehicle up again by simply parking it over the Peugeot Dock/Recharging station. It’s all so effortless — your only problem will be convincing your neighbors that it’s not a U”

From Air to Rail

Air travel is very, very, very bad for the environment. So why am I bringing it up on this website? (yeah for rhetorical questions!)

A company is proposing to take old airplane fuselages and convert them into monorails. This just sounds cool! And it is! Energy for the trains comes from solar power, wind power, and regenerative breaking.

This is such a good use for old environmentally unfriendly technology because it takes it and makes it into a sustainable transportation system.

It has yet to be prototyped, but let’s hope that this system is built.

VENTURI ECLECTIC Vehicle Powers Itself

This car is entirely powered by renewable energy. The Eclectic uses solar power, wind power, and regenerative energy from braking. It is “the first autonomous vehicle in the history of the automobile.” Awesome!

Inhabitant has some pics and a short article:
“Eclectic produces energy from sources that already surround us, combining 2.5 square meters of photovoltaic cells, one or more wind turbines, and NiMH (NIV-7) batteries. Intended for driving in urban areas, it offers a range up to 50 km at a speed of 50 km/h (electronically restricted), while continually producing and storing energy, even when not in us”

GM, Killer of Electric Car to Make Electric Car

After being accused of killing the electric car, General Motors has decided to make another electric car. The Chevy Volt is the name and getting plugged in is its game.

“The Volt has a battery-powered electric motor that can run the car for up to 40 city miles on a single charge. Beyond that, a gasoline-powered, one-liter, three-cylinder engine can generate electricity to power the car and replenish the battery, with a range of up to 640 miles, GM said.”
