Knowledge Is Power

An organization called the Environmental Working Group and its group of scientists, engineers, policy experts, lawyers and computer programmers are raising awareness and helping protect the public from hazards in our daily lives. Since 1993 the group has exposed health concerns faced by millions of people through leading investigations and involving the mainstream media. Their site is an amazing database of information and a great way to find out more about the daily products, foods and environmental elements that may be harmful to our health.

Oglala Lakhota says YES to Abortion

The president of Oglala Lakhota native reserve in South Dakota is looking to have abortion clinics on their sovereign land. South Dakota recently passed a bill that makes abortion illegal, even if it is wanted after a “simple rape.” The law makers were mostly males, and they decided that women can’t make their own decisions about what they can (and can’t) do to their bodies.

“The President of the Oglala Sioux Tribe on the Pine Ridge Reservation, Cecilia Fire Thunder, was incensed. A former nurse and healthcare giver she was very angry that a state body made up mostly of white males, would make such a stupid law against women”

And for a little direct action, I encourage all females to call Senator Bill Napoli at work at 605-348-7373 for help making decisions since he thinks women can’t think. So if you don’t know if you should watch Brokeback Mountain or V is for Vendetta give him a ring!

If you think abortion is not a “good thing,” please leave a comment as to why. I am very curious as to why people think abortion is wrong.

CRIA Study Says: Downloading Not So Bad

The CBC reports that a study put up by the Canadian Recording Industry Association may be showing that music downloading is not harmful to the recording industry. The study shows that the largest music downloading demographic is also the largest music buying demographic, among other interesting results.

The interpretations are being debated over by recording industry heavyweights. I think the real good news here is that the question is being earnestly considered.
