Nuclear Fusion on Your Table

A device that can fit on the top of a table can be used to create nuclear fusion! Researchers at The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute have provided confirmation of an early attempt at room temperature fusion that came from UCLA, while making the design of the device better.

“The device, which uses two opposing crystals to generate a powerful electric field, could potentially lead to a portable, battery-operated neutron generator for a variety of applications, from non-destructive testing to detecting explosives and scanning luggage at airports.”

Thanks, Austin!
